Recent Project FGBC Platinum Certified

We are excited to share that one of our recent projects has been deemed a Certified Florida Green Home, meeting the requirements in energy efficiency, resource conservation, health, and durability required for Platinum certification from the Florida Green Building Coalition. Platinum is the highest certification tier.

In order to meet these requirements, the remodeled Delray Beach home:

  • Consumes less than 50% as much energy for heating and cooling as the standard home

  • Is overall 56% more efficient in all energy uses throughout the home

  • Uses low-flow plumbing appliances

“This certification is exciting because it shows the community our commitment to developing homes for a cleaner, more sustainable future“, says NMB’s Ian Koolik. As we look towards Florida’s future, the shift to energy efficient appliances will help reduce the emissions of toxic air contaminants and climate forcing greenhouse gases.

The newly remodeled backyard uses astroturf, which requires significantly less water.

In addition to showcasing NMB’s commitment to being a leader in the sustainability field, the certification comes with a few benefits to the homeowner. For them, this certification enhances the resale value of the home, saves over $2,200 per year in energy costs, and improves the indoor air quality.
